Good honest food in Doha.
We use only the freshest ingredients sourced locally from Qatar where possible, selected personally by our talented chefs; a precedent set by our Italian grandmother, Nonna Zanon. She is the inspiration behind our philosophy of fresh traditional Italian food lovingly prepared.
Nonna’s History
Everything began in the mid seventies, when my family moved to Qatar and my cheerful and witty Italian grandmother came to live with us.
Nonna Redenta Zanon conveyed her joy of living through her creativity and imagination, preparing authentic Italian dishes using only the freshest local ingredients, what she found in the morning at the vegetable and fish markets would dictate what we had for lunch and dinner. Back in the 70’s imported Italian food was almost impossible to find so she made everything herself including fresh pasta, bread and sauces!
Nonna very quickly took on the role of grandmother to all our friends; a pure genius at entertaining both adults and children alike with stories of her time, riddles and jokes. And of course these would be told in true Italian style, sitting around a table and eating what she had created in the kitchen.
I have fond memories of weekends foraging for clams on the beach with many friends, we would then return home with full buckets for my grandmother to add her magic and make the most wonderful freshest Spaghetti with clams. We had a vision inspired by Nonna Zanon to create an Italian restaurant, in our childhood home, using only the freshest ingredients by using produce that is locally sourced as much as possible and that is what Italian cuisine is all about.
